hi there lovlies. sorry it's been so many months since we've been on here. no excuses... but we're back :D

so we went up to julian, ca. 2 weekends ago and jess just feel in love with the place. the weather was perfect but the ride was a little hard on jess's tummy. no surprise though, she gets carsick all the time. we got lots of things made with julian apples like cider, dried apples slices, and even apple taffy. well, i guess the last one isn't made from julian apples but we can pretend.

One Year in SD!

Well, well, well, we’ve just had our 1 year anniversary of living here in San Diego. On Monday the 4th we crossed the 1 year mark. We can’t believe that it’s come up that quickly. We’ve lived at some really “interesting” homes. One was like taking our lives into our own hands between the drug deals going down and neighbors being arrested feet from our front door to living with a 10 person family that consisted of 8 boys. We’ve had a few jobs too but you know what: one thing has been consistent the entire time: God’s support and love! He has taught us both so much about dependence on Him, seeking Him, the importance of having scripture tucking away in your heart and praising Him in everything.

We truly love San Diego and it is home for both of us now. We’ve began attending church at Horizon Christian Fellowship in Clairemont lead by Mike MacIntosh and we’re still on the hunt for a small group and we know that God will bring one forward for us to join in His timing.

God's Country

**This was a blog from a few weeks ago that never got published***

Ben and I arrived here in Colorado on Friday night and have been in love with it out here ever since. It's gorgeous! Every square inch is just breath-taking. Every few minutes the weather seems to change it's mind and keep us on our toes. Being on vacation out here we've gotten to see so many different sides of Colorado and enjoy all of it. From Glen Eyrie's castle, Pike's Peak, New Life Church and the groovy hippie towns of Manitou and Idaho Springs. We've had a few great roadtrips that have brought us through the most peaceful and enchanted places I've ever seen. Like yesterday on our way back from whitewater rafting, which was SICK and I wanna go again for sure!! I'm looking foward to seeing my sister and her hubby tomorrow.

We made it

The move went really well, all in thanks to Jesus and Ben's family. Ben and I were up at 6am the morning of the move to get a good head start. I picked up the cousins and we headed off to pickup the couch that my RAD coworker Rhonda had let us store in her garage the last (2) weeks. (Thank you girly). From there we went to the storage unit and began packing the truck. We filled it up pretty good and thank goodness Charlie was there with the mini-van because we filled it up too! (Yeah needless to say I spent most of Sunday getting rid of boxes worth of stuff we no longer need.) But with the added help of the good ol' Costa Verde shopping carts we were able to move relatively pain-free. The guys had some really good times though racing the carts down the hallways :) Lily arrived and lent a helping hand unpacking and getting things situated and Dave stopped by to help move some more heavy stuff upstairs for us. (the picture above is from our patio facing looking onto Regents towards Nobel)

All in all we feel pretty settled in even though we still need to get a bookshelf and some kind of a storage unit for our files/computer stuff...oh and a dining room table, we're looking into getting one of those to that sits 4 comfortably but doesn't take up to much room. We're definitely going for the simple/clutter-free look at this apt. It's just such a pretty apt that it really speaks for itself.
A *.:SPECIAL:.* thank you Charlie ( Ben's dad), Nic (Ben's brother), Caleb & Gabe ( Ben's cousins), Lily (Ben's sister) and David (a super cool friend) for all your time effort and energy spent moving us on Saturday.

the spirit is strong but the flesh is weak

So a few weeks ago, maybe even months ago Ben and I were talking about when were going to be moving next. I felt is heavy on my heart that the Lord was asking me to just depend on Him to bring people that can help us with the move. I've been pretty strong about it up until just recently. This last week I've been stressing out about it. It's even been messing with my stomach :( Silly, I know but it's just where I'm at I guess. I just want things to go smooth and even though I sent out a bulletin asking if anyone could help-- I felt awkward about sending it. That verse " the spirit is strong but the flesh is weak" is SO true. I want to follow Him but I justify going around what He says :( Makes me sad but I know He has grace on me and so I need to have grace on myself. Gosh I'm being super vulnerable right now (BIG breathe). Well, we shall see what happens over the next 24 hours...

Beach Cruiser vs. 10-Speed

So we’re getting ready to make the next pitstop before we get our own lil’ home. Some of our friends, Bryant & Karen Eaton graciously talked to Bryant’s parents who are here in Poway about letting us stay with them until we can move into our place. They were kind enough to say yes. We are so blessed and I’m excited to be moving one step closer to our own place again. It’s been a blessing to be living out in the country more than Ben and I think we’d ever imagined we could. We’ll miss the sound of the coyotes, the birds flying around above with such peace about them and our favorite squirrel family. I’ll miss watching them tumble around on the lawn while mom and dad are perched up on top of the boulder keeping an eye out for danger. I’ll be foreign to be cooking with our own pots & pans again. I can’t wait to be able to cook Ben a nice dinner and then watch a movie on our own couch. The last (4) months has given me an understanding that life will go on smoothly if you want it to. I’ve learned that a lot of things I thought I was in control of well, I’m not. And the things that I didn’t think I had control over are right at my finger tips. Call it satan’s lies, societies messed up way of conditioning or my own weaknesses to growing up. The fact is that we never stop growing. We will never wake up here on earth and say to ourselves I’ve got it all figured out. It’s just not going to happen. It’s not a bad thing to come to an understanding that we just don’t have that option- it’s just fact. In fact I’ve felt a huge weight off my shoulders since accepting this. Just like in Matthew 11:30 when Jesus says “my yoke is easy, and my burden is light” and when we finally get into His ways things actually feel lighter in life. This is not to be misunderstood as me saying life is easy- it's not. Think about it this way: you can get through life on a beach cruiser, right? But that same ride on a 10-speed has a different feel to it. Certain things you'd need to do on a beach cruiser, like pump your brains out to go up a hill aren't the same with a 10-speed. The 10-speed gives you options with how much you are going to need to be pumping to get over the next hill.

We all have options, free will, but when you see a new way of doing the same old things it's exciting when they begin to lighten your burden in life.
